AB 593 – Assembly Natural Resources Committee
Pathway to Clean Energy Buildings
Building emissions are one of the fastest growing sources of greenhouse gas emissions, and AB 593 is the critical next step to build on clean building targets. AB 593 have required the California Energy Commission (CEC) to act on their findings related to building emissions and implement an emissions reduction strategy for the building sector, complete with milestones, to advance to carbon neutrality by 2045. The bill required the state to prioritize workforce development, send clear market signals to appliance manufacturers and installers, lessen cost impacts on ratepayers, and address barriers for low-income communities.
