AB 631 – Assembly Natural Resources Committee
Community Safety and Protection Act
Oil wells and drilling are an enormous risk to California’s communities. AB 631 provides the Geologic Energy Management Division (CalGem), which regulates oil and gas, with the same level of authority to enforce the law that other state agencies have. Increasing penalties for the worst actors will motivate oil companies to comply with the law to avoid being penalized and prevent further public health disasters.
