OAKLAND, CA — In recognition of her decades-long dedication to climate action, today Vice President Kamala Harris earned the endorsement of California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) in her campaign for President of the United States.

“California Environmental Voters eagerly endorses Vice President Harris for President of the United States. Her track record in California proves exactly what kind of leader she will be, and, building on her unprecedented progress with President Biden nationally, it’s clear she is the right leader for our nation in the climate fight for our future.
From her time as San Francisco District Attorney, California Attorney General, U.S. Senator, and now Vice President, Vice President Harris has consistently prioritized holding corporate polluters accountable and protecting communities from the impacts of the climate crisis. Starting back in 2005 when she created the San Francisco District Attorney office’s first environmental justice unit, and then as California Attorney General she sued Southern California Gas Company over the largest natural gas leak in U.S. history and opposed Chevron’s refinery expansion in the majority Black and Latino city of Richmond. As U.S. Senator, she introduced the Climate Equity Act, which was used as a model for equity investments in the Inflation Reduction Act that she cast the deciding vote on as Vice President.
This race is historic, not only because of the critical climate issues at stake, but also because of the difference representation in leadership makes. Vice President Harris has already broken barriers as the first woman, the first Black woman, and the first South Asian Vice President. Her candidacy for President represents a landmark moment in our country.
