LOS ANGELES, CA — Today, California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) released the following statement in response to Presidential candidate Kamala Harris’ running mate decision of Minnesota Governor, Tim Walz.
Statement from Mike Young, Sr. Political and Organizing Director, California Environmental Voters:
“Governor Walz’s visionary leadership in Minnesota has set a powerful example for meaningful climate action. Notable achievements during his tenure include delivering historic legislation to achieve 100% clean electricity by 2040, increasing access to electric vehicles, implementing policies to assess climate impacts in environmental justice communities, and replacing lead pipes to ensure clean water for Minnesotans.
As we face the escalating impacts of climate change, the selection of a Vice President with a proven track record in climate advocacy is a decisive step forward. Governor Walz brings the experience, passion, and commitment needed to advance national climate policies that will protect generations to come. We’re confident that Harris and Walz are the best choice to build on the Biden-Harris Administration’s historic progress.”

ABOUT CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL VOTERS
California Environmental Voters (formerly the California League of Conservation Voters) believes the climate crisis is here and this moment requires transformative change. California has the policy solutions to stop climate change but lacks the political will to do it at the rate and scale that’s necessary. EnviroVoters exists to build the political power to solve the climate crisis, advance justice, and create a roadmap for global action. We organize voters, elect and train candidates, and hold lawmakers accountable for bold policy change. We won’t stop until we have resilient, healthy, thriving communities, and a democracy and economy that is just and sustainable for all.
